‘Amazing’ fans do South Africa proud – Sport24

Cape Town – A silver lining to the Springboks’ almost inconceivable 34-32 loss to Japan in Brighton on Saturday has been found.

Olly Barratt, a TV and radio correspondent based in London, shared how South African fans took the loss on the chin and congratulated the Japanese fans on their side’s win.

Amazing from SA fans as we leave Brighton, congratulating Japan supporters for their team’s performance, shaking their hands. #RSAvJPN tweeted Barratt.

That tweet was retweeted and favourited over 440 times.

But that was not the end of the story.

Barratt tweeted: Train pulls into Brighton, SA fans insist Japan supporters get off first, give them a guard of honour and cheer them off. Amazing day.” 

That tweet went viral accumulating over 3 300 retweets and favourites.

While the Boks may have lost on the pitch, at least the fans off the field did the country proud on Saturday.
